My Creativity

Creativity takes many forms and I have been blessed to have creative abilities in many areas, but I do not claim to be among the best in any of these areas. In comparison with many famous and very talented artists and authors these are but the doodlings and scratchings of an amateur, but then, that is what I love about art. No matter what you do you are never wrong!
It is after all, your art, and no one on earth has the right to criticise you for your art. Oh yes, the critics will say the brush strokes are hesitant, or the verse is obtuse, the prose has just too many prepositional phrases and the photos are poorly framed, but hey, who says they are right?
Its not their art, its mine and that’s the way I did it!
Enjoy it for what it is, or move on to someone else’s website, the choice is yours.

My art has been rather sporadic over the years. I seems to go into bursts of activity then let it lie dormant for a goodly period of time.
But in the short bursts of activity I have done drawings in pencil and charcoal and pictures in crayon, pastel and watercolours.
I haven’t touched oils since my first attempt when I was a child, but one day I will revisit that.

My poems have also been rather sporadic and very much as inspiration takes me. I have tried to write more and sat down, pen
in hand or finger poised over the keyboard, but the words elude me. The one day, a line of prose will pop into my head and
kick me off, and hey, I just wrote another poem. Funny how that works.

My first book was a bittier disappointment. I wrote it back in the mid 90’s and mostly while I was offshore on a seismic ship
in the North Sea. It languished for years as a file on my computer until in 2008 I finally plucked up the courage to publish it.
I went through what I thought was a recognised publishing house who promised listing in all the top bookshops and online
stores but utterly failed to deliver. The book was overpriced and undersold. I finally cancelled the contract and re-launched
myself in 2014 as a Kindle edition.
I have several other books in the pipeline and I find books interesting to write because, unlike poetry, the words just flow.
I only have a broad outline of the plot and find that when I sit down the words just flow out, like water, in a never ending
stream and the characters and story line just develops as I go.
Yes, all the best books on writing say that’s not the way to do it, but hey, it’s my art alter all.

I have to describe myself as a avid photographer if not a professional one. An enthusiast that pretty much just snap shots as and when they appear. I have taken over 20,000 photos, mostly on digital and have only just started to organise them all. I have a few subjects I like, but sometimes I just take a photo because t looked like a good shot was there. On review, often the shot wasn’t, but now and again you get a real beautie!
